For nearly 400 years Ignacio Guerra Cañamar and his descendants have lived in North America. Born in 1633 and settling in Northern Mexico, New Spain at the time, his descendants can be found in modern day Northern Mexico and Southern Texas.

A Personal Project of Discovery

This project began as a personal search for answers to my family history. I wanted to know the origins of the Guerra Family, where did they come from, how long have they been around? Of course, this began with my direct line of research, trying to find the answers to my own ancestry.

The purpose of this website is to share my research with others that are also searching for their family roots. The information on this website also builds on the works of many cousins and relatives that have done vast amount of research. I am just one of a long line of family genealogist adding to the foundations that many others have built on.
