About Jose S. Guerra

My name is Jose Guerra, author and developer of this website. I developed this site in order to share my research of the Guerra family history.

Where it Started

It was in the mid-1980’s when my history teacher gave our class a school project to research and build a family tree. I was so curious about my family origins that I started with the best sources of information I could find at the time.

In the mid-1980’s there was no World Wide Web for research, the Internet existed but not in a useful way for home use.

I reached out to my grandparents and interviewed them. I gathered their first hand accounts and put them together in a journal. I then interviewed my parents and soon found out that my father had inherited a family tree that his uncle, my grandfather’s brother, had created. It was not long before I learned that other members of the family before me had researched and archived genealogical information about the Guerra family origins. Although I was only 12 years old at the time, I gathered a lot of information. I am so grateful that I was able to do this at an early age.

As the years passed on and I continued my research I was able to look back at my early records and interviews to verify information that I found later. As my grandparents passed away and eventually my parents, these early interviews were the last verifiable information I had left from them.

A little bit about me

I was born in Northern Mexico, in a small town where pretty much everyone knew each other. My parents soon moved to Houston, Texas where I was raised. I went to school there and graduated High School. Afterwards I joined the military and traveled around the country for a few years. I returned to Houston and continued my life until in 2007 I decided to clear my debts, pack my things and I moved to Europe. Since then I have been living in London, community to the states and periodically visiting my birth town to visit the last of my living relatives there.
